Blogs and Wikis are both new forms of new media that allow users to communicate information as well as allowing users to respond. Both platforms bring the ability of allowing communities to collaborate and share information. While they have similar purposes, when it comes down to the functions of each and the way information is introduced there is a difference. With blogs the user is allowed to make a post, that only the owner can edit or delete. With a wiki, every user with permission has the ability to edit, add, or delete information anonymously.
In our society where information is easily attainable, blogs and wikis are useful in answering question that once might have took longer to find and search in a book. Both also allow communities of whatever one may be interested in to share info or research info together. Both bring together an element of oneness that can be used for different callings. For example, we read in the article How To Use Wikis For Business, that wikis "remains simple enough for non-technical employees to use", which allows all type of user the opportunity to use and share information. In terms of blogs, in the article Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid, shows a exciting and compelling way where a blog could be used for collaboration for a single matter that benefited the neighborhood. In this article the community was able to "turned to blogging, and blogging turned to action, as neighbors started filing complaints with the 68th Precinct station house and attending Community Board 10 meetings and generally making noise until a narcotics investigation began, leading to the arrests."
Blogs and wikis are still relatively new forms of new media that we can find many more uses for them. They are already used for business and educational purpose amongst many other things, the limit of possibilities for these social outlets are limitless.

Research Paper Topic
For my research paper I plan on taking a in-depth analysis of Netflix (New Media) vs. The television (Old Media). While both have managed to stay relevant, I will be trying to find out if they will always co-exist or if one will takeover as the new blueprint to how we watch our media. While Netflix's is relatively new to the industry it has soared as a top competitor and also a option many people choose rather than paying for cable. Also Netflix has the capability to stream onto almost any device, the television has its major benefits like the the ability to watch programs live. In order to find out who reigns supreme, I will be weighing the economical, technological, sociological benefits of both sides.
