P2P File Sharing

File sharing is way people share information, videos, songs, etc with one another through websites, Napster. With easy accessibility to the internet many more people are able to download or stream content for free and illegally over the internet. P2P file sharing stands for peer to peer file sharing, which involves users sharing information that could be there own or someone else's intellectual property. When it comes to P2P file sharing bit torrent or the main way this take place. With Bit torrent software users are able to download large or small files for the community of users who already have the file. This allows users to download movies in high quality in faster speeds then what it would take to download off of a tradition file sharing website. The effects of file sharing and P2P file sharing are the loss in a lot of revenue for the music, movie, software, and many other industries. In The New York Times Article Digital Pirates Winning Battle With Studios, we read about how file sharing that first effected the music industry is now having a tremendous effect of the movie industry. In the article we read about how producers for the Dark Knight tried to prevent pirating but failed. "The campaign failed miserably. By the end of the year, illegal copies of the Batman movie had been downloaded more than seven million times around the world, according to the media measurement firm BigChampagne, turning it into a visible symbol of Hollywood’s helplessness against the growing problem of online video piracy." With this hit to these industries many people have been coming up with different ideas to change the format of how these industries conduct there selves.
